Bono, the lead singer of U2, has received emergency back surgery after an injury sustained during tour preparation training, his band’s Web site reports.
The American Red Cross
“He was admitted to a specialist neuro surgery unit in a Munich hospital, and is under the care of neurosurgeon Prof. Dr. Jorg Tonn and Dr. Muller Wohlfahrt. Bono will spend the next few days there, before returning home to recuperate,” the statement reads.
U2’s 360 tour launch, scheduled for June 3 in Salt Lake City, has been postponed, the Salt Lake Tribune has confirmed. According to the report, fans who had tickets to that concert at Rice-Ecles Stadium should hold on to their tickets until updates on Bono’s health and the band’s touring status have been released.
U2’s tour is scheduled to stop at Spartan Stadium on June 30 with Interpol opening. LiveNation Detroit promoters said all they know thus far is the information about the Salt Lake City show.
